Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was sedated for nearly 11 hours during the tattoo session with Andres Ortega that happened back in March at Onder Ink in Arizona, according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Prescott, 30, also failed to tell the Cowboys about the procedure and are only finiding out about it through the media, including owner Jerry Jones and head coach Mike McCarthy.
"I certainly didn't know he was under for 10 hours," Jones said, per Hill. "Just so you're clear, I had no idea about tattoos. I better get up to date on it. I had no idea that required that kind of sedation of any tattoo. It further explains to me why I don't have a tattoo."
The massive tattoo covers nearly his entire leg and features a variety of images special to the QB. One of the images is a picture of a moose, which honors Prescott's brother, Jace, who passed away in 2020.
There is also a picture of a Pegasus, which pays homage to Prescott's mother, Peggy, who lost her battle to cancer in 2013.
Dak Prescott's tattoo features Jordan and Kobe
In addition to these personal tributes, the tattoo features several iconic sports figures, including Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Muhammad Ali.
The artwork also includes a nod to Prescott's famous touchdown celebration, but with Daffy Duck doing the move.
Ortega revealed at the time that the entire process took around 10 hours to complete, though he never mentioned how Prescott required anesthesia.
"I was like, 'Whoa, what the ... happen to your leg,'" McCarthy said. "So he shows it to me. I'm like 'Jesus Christ, how long did that take? You've been doing it all week.' He said, 'No, I did it all at one time.' He showed me a video of it and like 'Oh, my God.'"
