It's not exactly a secret that Graeme Souness isn't ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba's biggest fan.

Souness retired from Sky Sports punditry this year, but that hasn't stopped him from ranting about the Juventus star and now, he's taken his criticism of the Frenchman to a new level.

Pogba ended his second spell at Man United in the summer of 2022, rejoining Juventus on a free transfer, but has struggled to play consistently thanks to a string of injuries and a suspension.

Souness believes Pogba should be one of the world's best midfielders right now, though, and explained why he thinks the France international hasn't hit his peak while speaking at a Second Captains podcast live event in Dublin.

“He’s an extremely talented young man. He should be one of the best midfield players in the world, but he’s lazy,” he said.

“If you remember how he used to take penalties, that was him wanting to be the star of the show for that period of time.”

He added: “If he’s lazy in matches he’ll be lazy in training and how can you get after the rest of them if you don’t get after him.”

Souness' long-standing criticism of Pogba has become a meme amongst football fans online, with his many comments on the ex-Man United man going viral each time.

But when asked whether he thinks he's been too harsh on Pogba, Souness doubled down on his beliefs.

“Not for a nanosecond, no, he’s a lazy t***,” he replied.

Pogba is currently provisionally suspended for failing an anti-doping test last month after returning a test that had high levels of testosterone, a hormone that can increase an athlete's endurance.

Players who have been found to violate anti-doping regulations could face bans of up to four years.
