Written by James Christian Charters and John Galea, with John Galea, Oscar Lo Brutto, and Biggs acting as producers, “Don’t Wanna Die” is an addicting, upbeat pop song that is fuelled by John Galea’s incredible emotional vocals, Ironik’s undoubtedly strong rap, and the catchy melody. Impressing from the very first few seconds, John Galea conveys a story of toxic love, of wanting to be with someone who clearly isn’t good for him. As a hugely confident bisexual man, John Galea makes this track even more important by dropping it during LGBTQ+ Pride month. His flawless vocal runs and emotional integrity, really allow this song to get inside of us, whilst the lyrics are easily relatable to many in the community. The track also has a slight late ’00s feel to it and so getting Ironik to feature on this track is definitely a highlight, with his rap linking in with the narrative with an epic line paying homage to his “Tiny Dancer” hit single. “Don’t Wanna Die” is an epic single from John Galea featuring Ironik, and one we will be listening to, on repeat, as we’re addicted to it – hopefully more so than toxic love.

As for the music video, which has been created by ARTtouchesART, we watch black and white narrative story scenes which starts with John Galea in bed with a handsome black guy, who gets a phone call and has to leave. Soon the performance scenes start, which are mainly shot on the balcony overlooking East London, with John Galea showcasing his passionate energy and how much this song means to him. Ironik also joins him on the balcony for his parts, giving just as much energy. The final few narrative scenes sees John Galea fling the bed covers, and ignoring a phone call from a guy called Romeo, who just has to be the guy who left at the beginning. Highly relatable to the track, this music video for “Don’t Wanna Die” works incredibly and manages to showcase both artists’ performance vibes.
