WITH an area for seamless entertaining downstairs, and a relaxing space in which to unwind upstairs; a contemporary home at 17a North Esplanade, Glenelg North was designed by the vendors as both a beachside haven and an entertainer’s delight.

Vendor Joe Scuteri, who has relocated to Sydney, says he will miss the four-bedroom home for the beachside lifestyle and thoughtful floorplan.

“There are so many things to love about this place,” Mr Scuteri says. “The view is just fantastic, there’s nothing better than sitting out on the balcony with a glass of nice white wine watching the sun set.

“I used to run along the beach to West Beach and back, and there’s a bathroom in the basement, so I could come in through there and have a shower without coming through the house.”

Set across three levels, the beachfront property boasts a gym and 400-bottle wine cellar on the lower level, an entertainmet area, gourmet kitchen and formal dining space on the ground floor, and a parent’s retreat and well-appointed bedrooms upstairs.

There is elevator access to each floor.

“Because we had teenage boys at the time we built the house, we wanted to have a parents retreat so we could have somewhere to relax when the boys had friends over,” Mr Scuteri says.

“Our master suite is quite a large space, it’s like a massive hotel suite.

“The study at the front is a fantastic place to work, although you might get a bit distracted by the view, and there’s also a sitting area in which we could relax and watch TV in if the boys had friends over downstairs.

“It has a little kitchenette next to it so we could make a tea or coffee, or even enjoy a glass of white wine from the fridge.”

On the ground floor, a galley-kitchen with Miele appliances is located between a formal dining and living area and casual entertaining space.

“The great thing about the kitchen is the way it’s laid out,” Mr Scuteri says. “It services both sides of that back area well, and it’s not easily visible, it’s hidden from the entertainment area so your guests aren’t watching you cook.”

Mr Scuteri says the configuration of the casual entertainment space, with a built-in bar, sound system and access to a decked outdoor area, has been ideal for hosting functions.

“I’m really into my footy, we used to have big AFL grand final parties there with the game on the drop down screen and projector.

“It’s probably my favourite area of the house.”

He says the home has the layout to suit a range of buyers.

“It is a big house — it suited us well with teenagers heading into adulthood because everyone has their own separate area, but we also had it designed so we could age in it — there’s plenty of ramps and the lift, so it could suit an older couple too.”
