Gareth Bale is back at Tottenham and is starting to recapture his very best form.
Following a slow start to life back at Spurs, the Welshman is now looking full of confidence again and his beginning to shine for Jose Mourinho’s men.
The 31-year-old, who is on loan in north London from Real Madrid for the 2020/21 season, recently scored a fine brace against Burnley to send a strong message to his doubters.
And with his goals came his new celebration which certainly got people talking too.
What does Gareth Bale’s celebration mean?
Bale has recently celebrated his goals by making a ‘WM’ sign with his hands.
The flying attacker flicks his hands up and down in the shape of a W and a M with his team-mates usually joining in.
The celebration means ‘Welsh Mafia’ and comes from himself and Wales team-mate Ben Davies and their time spent together on international duty.
It also has another meaning and is a nod to the fine work done by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In the past, Bale has been famous for another celebration as well - the heart shape he makes with his hand.
The meaning behind it is heartwarming and was originally meant as a tribute to his childhood sweetheart, Emma Rhys-Jones, to whom he is now engaged and has three children with.
The celebration has since morphed into something much bigger and become part of Bale’s global marketing appeal.
In March 2013, the Wales star filed an application with the Intellectual Property office to trademark his goal celebration along with his squad number, eleven.
It is now known as the 'eleven of hearts' celebration and earns him around £3million a year.
Bale has stopped using the celebration recently seemingly because he has had to take the number nine shirt for his loan stint back at Spurs.
